ABOUT ME
 2 Corinthians 5:17
From the Heart of a Servant
by C. R. Lord

The book to the right was written and published under the name C. R. Lord because it was the author's wish that the book be used to draw people to Christ and that he alone should be seen in its writing.  The pen name was given in answer to the prayer that God would give the author a name the would point people to him.  The Lord answered in a very special way by giving the name C. (see) R. (our) Lord.
It is the author's greatest hope that those who read what is contained within will not only see Christ but be drawn to him to love and serve him throughout all eternity!

God's amazing keeping power has held me
now for over 37 years as of this writing, and
I have gone from an exhuberant but foolish
disciple filled with zeal but little knowledge
to a man of God!  The transition has not been
an easy one, but then nothing of any value is
     ever attained without struggles encountered
and overcome along God's path for us.

God is the one constant.  We fail ourselves,
and we fail one another, but God is faithful
and never fails those who put their trust in
him!  Glory and praise is his and his alone!

There are only two masters in the universe, and neither of them is you or me!  The temporary one is Satan.  The All Powerful and Majestic One is Jesus!

    About Me

I am a many-faceted person who has been gifted in many ways. I have been an administrator, counselor, teacher, preacher, poet, artist, writer, singer, and father and husband. I have lived a life that would make a great film because it has contained much that multitudes of people could relate to, and it could encourage a lot of people to continue on in the face of adversity. My readers will soon discover that I am flexible and inflexible at the same time. As one person put it, “The man who won’t stand for something will fall for anything. I am a man of principle and unwavering faith in what humans can become if they are willing to humble themselves and admit they are not all sufficient in themselves. Since we are all in the same category, I have little regard and no respect for those who believe imposing their superiority on me or anyone else is necessary. We are all weak at best in one way or the other, and we are designed in such a way that comraderie is essential. No man is an island!

I have experienced parental abandonment from my father, the separation from my Mother for 6 years of my young life, life in the alcohol and drug culture, attempted suicide, and so many hurts that I have no desire to list them. I lived a life of near poverty for a long time, and suffered all that pertains to that condition. I have been arrested on drug possession charges prior to finding faith in Christ, and I have been arrested and imprisoned on false charges as a Christian.

In ministry I have been let down by many who call themselves Christians and who have made promises that they failed to keep that led to much misery for myself, my family and many others. In church I have been deeply saddened by the level of ignorance displayed nationwide concerning the responsibility of the body of Christ. We have lost our sense of purpose and become desensitized to those things that should stir us to action, and accepted in their place a worldly attitude of ease and comfort while the world runs headlong toward destruction. We have become a source of mockery and jokes in the world community and rightly so. They see our lack of spiritual commitment and the accompanying power and scoff at what we bring to them. God is not pleased, and we must come to the place of repentance and remorse for our plasticity if we expect things to change.

I am absolutely sold out to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and nothing and nobody can change that. When I was down and in a dirty prison cell I began to search him out. You see, none of us seeks a doctor until we know we are sick, and some of us will not go to a doctor unless we are dying. I believe that no person will come to Christ who has not first come to an end of themselves. Self-sufficiency is the enemy of our souls, and one of the great hindrances to salvation. But coming to Christ is not enough – living for him is the supreme joy in life!

I have overcome every obstacle in my life somehow, and I am convinced that even before knowing Jesus that somehow was him watching over me. “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” There is one obstacle that I believe requires the most diligent surveilance in life and that obstacle is me. The devil, people, circumstances, and whatever else may come my way are easy to overcome. My reluctance to be holy and godly and allow God to work the changes in me that are necessary to reflect Christ to a dying world are the biggest obstacles I will ever face in this life.

I have osteoarthritis in both knees, sometimes arthritis in my hands and arms, a torn cartilige behind my right knee, fairly frequent headaches, and a deteriorating disc in my lower spine. I have victory over all these things for one reason and one reason alone – My faith in Christ which has given me power to look beyond the natural realm to the realm that transcends the natural and is more real – the spiritual!

My purpose in life is simple! I live first and foremost to bring honor and glory to God! I live to love and care for my wife and seven children and their children. I live to share the very precious message of hope that Jesus came to deliver through his life and death and resurrection. I live, by the grace of God to love not only God, my family, and others close to me, but those who oppose me and themselves, and the world community at large.

I do not live to jam Christianity down anyone’s throat. We are all free moral agents and nobody can make that decision for us. There is however, a deep seated discontent in my heart that is compelling me to share Jesus and what he offers to a lost and dying world in any way that I can and with all the tools the are available and with all the giftings God has given me. There is no more pressing thing this side of eternity than preparing to enter eternity prepared. To deny this is great folly, and I have great pity for those who refuse to at least subjectively examine what God is offering everyday to those who still have ears to hear.
