SEEKING THE FACE OF GOD
"The Fire of God in our hearts will melt the lead in our feet!" -- A. W. Tozer
WHAT DO WE KNOW OF PRAYER? He Stands Best Who Kneels Most!
As I consider my own prayer life, I am appalled at how little effort I put into prayer, and how much I
expect in return! I have been crying out to God to teach me how to wait in his presence and never
relent until I know that he has heard me and I have heard him. I am so used to my prayer life of
bringing my list of requests before the Lord when it is convenient for me, and even though most
of my requests are for others, they fall far short of what God requires in the ministry of intercession.
True intercession is done with passion and urgency! It recognizes that prayer isn't just an exercise
of a few minutes but is the crying of the heart that is broken for the lost, an appeal that God would
have mercy on the body of Christ as we continue on in our lethargy, an emptying of the soul which
fiercely contends with the powers of darkness and causes panic in the darkest regions of the devil
and his minions! True intercession is warfare! We know nothing of this prevailing prayer in this vile
generation where we have become desensitized to the suffering around us or seem to be paralyzed
while pursuing activity that is lacking God's power or purpose because we don't make time to invest
daily in travailing before the throne of grace when such travail is so desperately needed by so many!
The video to the right should pierce
our hearts to the innermost depths
with shame for the artificial and
powerless prayers we offer to our
Lord and Saviour day after day!
The Bible says; "A little child shall
lead them." We can learn from these
children if we will humble ourselves!
Oh' that our hearts would cry out and
not harden to this vital message!
Oh God; Place a fire in our hearts that cannot be quenched.
Help us die to self so that the lost and dying world will see Christ in us and be drawn to him!
QUOTES BY GREAT MEN OF GOD ON PRAYER
"Neglect of prayer is an effrontry to God , for by it we are saying that we have confidence
in the flesh and can operate the spiritual life on a do it yourself basis." - Ravenhill
"It has been often said that prayer is the greatest force in the universe. In this atomic age when forces are being released that stagger the thought and imagination of man, it is
well to remember that prayer transcends all other forces." - Huegel
No one is a firmer believer in the power of prayer than the devil; not that he practices
it but he suffers from it." - Guy H. King
"What the church needs today is not more machinery, not new organization or more
novel methods, but men whom the Holy Ghost can use--men of prayer, men mighty
in prayer. The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods but through men. He
does not anoint plans but men -- men of prayer." -- E. M. Bounds
"Prayer in its highest form is agonizing soul sweat! Prayer is not just casting off a
burden. It is having sense enough, and wisdom enough, and heart enough to ask
God to share the burden of his great heart with me!" - Leonard Ravenhill
The truth is there are few who wait upon the Lord, fewer still who can say; 'I waited
patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me and heard my cry' (Psalm 40:1). We
rush to pour out our complaint unto him. We forget to wait until he talks to us. We
expect fast service to our prayers as if the Lord has an express lane for those with
ten requests or less." - Leonard Ravenhill
The Most personalized verse in all of scripture is Matthew 6:6 - 6 Personal Pronouns!
THE FOLLOWING LIST SUGGESTS THINGS TO PRAY FOR OR ABOUT
THERE IS ENOUGH HERE TO KEEP ANYONE BUSY FOR A LONG TIME!
I believe that our first obligation is to pray for ourselves that we may
be the kind of people that walk close enough to God that our prayers
might be effective and according to His will. 1 John 5:14-15 When we pray for others we need to pray from the innermost depths of our being under the
direction of the Holy Spirit and in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our prayers should be very specific - more than "Lord please bless this person!"
Although God knows our needs I think he would like us to express them clearly.
Here then is the list
1. All those who are closest to us. Spouses, children, fathers, mothers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, nephews, neices, in-laws and grandchldren.
2. Our neighbors saved and unsaved. Perhaps they have nobody else to pray for them, and their salvation and worldly provision is as equally important as anyone.
3. Our spiritual leaders (not just pastors) who have input into our lives and the lives of our children and grandchildren. What they sow into each life is vitally important.
4. Our children's friends who influence them on a daily basis. We need to pray that our childen will be influencing them more than their friends are influencing them, especially if their friends are unsaved and hold to ungodly practices and ideas.
5. Our U. S. President, the House of Representatives, the Supreme Court and the
Senate. All our national leaders at all levels of government including local officials.
6. The Leaders of all the governments of the world especially where the gospel is
supressed that they would be opened up to the spread of the gospel.
7. The leaders and owners of the News Media, Music Industry, Porn Industry,
Entertainment Industry (movies and games), and National business leaders.
8. All public education systems including Grade Schools, High Schools, Colleges
and Universities, Christian and Religious Schools, and all Home Schooling Parents.
9. All religions and cults that reject the Deity of Jesus Christ and the message of the gospel. Some names of highly visible groups would be Humanists, Universalists,
Buddhists, Muslims, Roman Catholics, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, and
Christian Science Practitioners. Other groups would include all other Eastern
Mystical Religions, Satanists, Atheists, Witches and Warlocks, Scientology
Followers, Spiritists, Hare Krishnas, and Followers of New Age Philosophy.
10. Anyone else not found on this list that the Lord leads you to pray for.
