in the beauty of holiness.

THE BIBLE IS INSPIRED:  The scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired by God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible and authoritative rule of faith and conduct.  II Timothy 3:16-17,  II Peter 1:20-21 and I Thessalonians 2:13  In addition, throughout scripture itself the Bible is called the Word of God, God's Word and etc.  Another more personal reason that I believe the Bible is God's Word is that I know the Author personally for over 40 years as of the writing on this page.  Of all the persons I know in the universe He is the most trustworthy.  I have prayed according to the Bible many times without sharing what I prayed about with anyone but God, and I have had many answers concerning a wide range of life's issues from finding a lost item to specific direction for ministry.  I have also been healed and have seen others healed instantly and I have witnessed other miracles as people prayed for them in the name of Jesus Christ.

THERE IS ONE GOD: Deuteronomy 4:35 and 39,  I Kings 8:60,  John 17:3.  He has revealed that he is the Creator of heaven and earth (Genesis 1) and the Redeemer of mankind (John 3:16 and 1 John 3:16).  A close study of scripture will reveal to the regenerate soul that the Godhead consists of three persons in one, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and that they are co-equal, have attributes that can apply to deity only and work together in harmony in creation and the salvation of mankind.  Attributes of God: (Eternity - Deuteronomy 33:27,  John 1:1-referring to Jesus and Hebrews 9:14)  Some other scriptures pertaining to the attributes of deity involving the Father, Son and Holy Spirit include: Genesis, Chapters 1 and 2,  John 1:3-10,  Colossians 1:16-18,  Genesis 1:2,  Job 26:13 and 33:4,  Job 34:21,  I John 3:20,  John 16:30,  Colossians 2:3,  John 16:12-13,  I Corinthians 2:10-11,  Jeremiah 23:24,  Proverbs 15:3,  Matthew 28:20, and Psalms 139:7-10.  NOTE:  (  God's  identity and all spiritual truth is hidden to those who are have never trusted Christ for salvation, and they deem it to be foolishness.  (I Corinthians 2:14)  Of great importance is that Jesus is called God in Isaiah 9:6,  John 1:1 and 14 and  Hebrews 1:8 and the Holy Spirit is called God in Acts 5:3-4.  God is called Father in John 6:27 as well as I Peter 1:2.  This term for God is odious to the feminist whose world revolves around women and who despise men who subscribe to the biblical mandate God gave the husband to be the head of the home.  They would like to create a god who is either a female or gender neutral, however God himself spoke out against all such foolishness when he made it clear that he is God and he does not change (Malachi 3:6,  James 1:17 and Hebrews 13:8 speaking of Jesus who is God).  Finally, since I am convinced that there is only one true God in the universe, I must believe that all other gods (little "g") are false gods and idols whose worship is condemned in scripture, and that those who profess them are being deceived or are willingly deceiving others into trusting in a god that has no power to deliver them from death and eternal judgment and damnation.
There cannot be more than one true and living God.  (I John 5:20)

MAN WAS CREATED SINLESS (Genesis 1:26 and 27)  Adam and Eve were pure because they were formed in the "spiritual image" of God (see John 4:24).  Sin didn't exist and so they walked with God in the garden experiencing his loving presence without fear of any kind.   MANKIND DISOBEYED GOD AND LOST HIS PURITY (Genesis 3, the entire chapter tells the story).  I must comment on verse 9 because there is so much misunderstanding concerning God's question to Adam contained in that verse.  God was not asking Adam where he was because he couldn't find him.  His question was to Adam so that Adam could see where he had fallen spiritually.  God knows everything past, present and future so to think he didn't know where Adam was hiding makes absolutely no sense of any kind.   It is because Even sinned and then Adam sinned as well that all mankind was born with a sinful nature.  The fact that we are so drawn to evil and doing what our conscience tells us is wrong is proof enough of that.  ALL MEN ARE SINNERS (Romans 3:10-12 and 23, Isaiah 64:6 (our righteousness), Romans 5:12, Psalms 14:2-3, Isaiah 53:6 and Ecclesiastes 7:20).

UNREPENTANT SINNERS ARE TO BE ETERNALLY DAMNED (Mark 16:16), ARE CONDEMNED (John 3:18-19) AND WILL BE CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE (Revelation 20:10-15).  There are many who would readily accept an eternal Heaven but who reject an eternal Lake of Fire, but it is totally out of touch with reality to try to say eternal concerning Heaven is real and eternal when it refers to the Lake of Fire is not.  There are not two kinds of eternities.  Eternal cannot be modified to mean temporary in one sense and something else in the other.  It is the fear of punishment that makes men run from truth to error because they don't want to deal with the consequences of their sin. Very few people volunteer to go before a judge whether they are guilty or not, so we are rightly fearful of standing in judgment before the God of the universe who sees and knows everything about us and cannot be fooled or persuaded by a defense lawyer or anyone else. His judgments will be perfect and there will be no arguments on that day when all men are called to give an account of their lives.  The wise will prepare for this while they can.  The foolish will hold to their pride, their opinion, their so-called intellectual superiority and whatever else that keeps them from acknowledging truth, and they will stand before God terrified and fully aware that they deserve the punishment he will mete out!  BUT THAT DOESN'T HAVE TO HAPPEN!

JESUS CAME TO DELIVER MEN FROM SIN, DEATH AND THE CURSE OF THE LAW (John 3:16-17, John 5:24, Romans 5:8, I Corinthians 15:3, II Corinthians 5:18 and 19, Galatians 3:13, Titus 2:11-14 and Romans 1:16).  These are only a sampling of the verses dealing with salvation that are found in the Bible.  This fact coupled with three verses in scripture show that he not only came but he alone is the only way to salvation.  This doesn't sit well with those who follow other belief systems whether secular or religious, but Jesus himself spoke the words that condemn every other supposed way to God.  (John 14:6)  Luke, the beloved physician speaking in Acts 4:10-12 said the same and added the word "Must" to the equation making salvation through Christ the mandatory way, and in I Timothy 2:5 can be found the declaration "For there is one God and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus."  A mediator is a lawyer or a go-between.  Paul, who many consider the greatest apostle of all time, wrote these words to Timothy in an epistle or letter.  This makes it plain once again that Jesus alone can act as the one who can present the case for a sinner before the Father in heaven.  Three testimonies that I believe seal the deal and leave no other course for any human being.

REPENTANCE IS REQUIRED FOR SALVATION (II Corinthians 7:10, Matthew 9:13, Mark 1:4, Mark 1:14-15 (Jesus speaking), Luke 24:46-47, Acts 2:38 (Peter speaking), Acts 3:19, Acts 17:30 (Paul speaking), and II Peter 3:9 stating that God is not willing that any should perish but that all would come to repentance.  This is not some mental gymnastic but a heart-felt sorrow for our sins against God and a broken spirit that cries out to God for forgiveness.  I believe earnestly that if there is no sorrow for sin true repentance does not take place, and any  salvation apart from genuine sorrow and repentance is not the salvation of scripture but a cheap and tawdry replacement that deludes people into believing they possess something they were never given.  People tell men that all they have to do is believe or recite the Romans road of salvation to them and they say a little prayer and become a child of God.  Never!  This sorrow and deep remorse is worked in us by the Holy Spirit and brings us to the cross in humility crying out to God to forgive us and save us!  Just believe is not enough!  It is a spiritual response not just mental! The unholy sinner in the presence of a Holy God knowing he is condemned and asking for pardon.  Anything else is a farce!

SALVATION CHANGES LIVES (II Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 6:15 and Ephesians 4:24 - A New Creature or new man)  See my page on this site Who I Am for a more comprehensive look at this wonderful salvation and what I believe it is.

ALL MEN WILL BE RESURRECTED AND LIVE FOREVER  (Revelation 20:11-15)  This portion of scripture speaks of the final judgment of all mankind.  It is commonly known as the White Throne Judgment.  It speaks of "A Book, and some books."  One book is the Lamb's Book of Life in which all the redeemed of all time are listed.  The books are a list of all the unregenerate souls of all time, and I believe it could possibly list their sins as well because they are not forgiven as those of the people in "The Book" are.  In addition, scripture makes it clear that few find their way to salvation (even though God desires all to repent and be saved II Peter 3:9) and many will follow the way of destruction (or sin and damnation).  See also Revelation 21:8.  Matthew 7:13-14 makes this perfectly clear when it says "straight is the gate and narrow is the way, and few there be that find it." These are the words of Jesus Christ.

THIS IS WHAT I BELIEVE.  THERE ARE OTHER THINGS AS WELL, BUT THESE ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT IN MY ESTIMATION.  TO KNOW GOD AS FATHER, TO KNOW JESUS AS SAVIOR AND TO KNOW THE HOLY SPIRIT AS GUIDE TRANSCENDS EVERYTHING ELSE IN LIFE.  This is only possible to the believer through the blood shed by Jesus Christ on Calvary for their forgiveness and eternal salvation.

I Timothy 4:16 - "Take heed unto thyself and the doctrine; continue in them; for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee."  --  Paul  --
II Timothy 4:3-4 - "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."

Doctrinal Statement:  Just a quick thought on the rapture.  Some people are pre-trib, others mid-trib and still others post-trib.  I am pan trib.  I believe it doesn't matter if or when the tribulation comes because if I stick close to Jesus everything will "pan" out.  --  © 2010  C. R. Lord
